Good afternoon everyone,

As we head into October, I am empowered at the work of so many and the continued collaborative engagement of our students, families and our two communities in making the 2023-24 School Year a positive experience.

We continue to diligently work in collaboration to provide positive, empathic and rigorous instruction while ensuring that the emotional well being of our students and staff are also our primary focus and I applaud everyone’s tireless work. This story is a  reminder for all of us to “practice what we preach”, ensuring that our words line up with our actions which is at the heart of what we, in all areas of life, must focus on and work to achieve daily. This balance must walk in unison with the messages we give out to our children and the world, both subtly and not so subtly. Our daily exchanges with people via email, text, social media or in person can certainly include differing opinions and even the agreement to disagree, yet without malice, anger, or any negativity. This way, we model for our students how to actively engage in collaborative conversations. Accountability is needed but how we hold people accountable must be in line with how we want ourselves held accountable - with respect and dignity and with the removal of the premise of do what I say;  not what I do.  May this story, should you choose to read it,  empower each of us to practice what we preach.

The Sugar Story

In a world that seems to be pulling us all in multiple emotional directions, with multiple messages, one of the only certainties is that we can always control our reactions and our actions and how we treat others, even when we might want a different result.  I have never been prouder to work with people who are as positive, giving and focused on doing the right thing, and practicing what Gandhi spoke of as I am with the community here within FLRSD. So many of our Maintenance, Food Service and Custodial Staff, Nurses, Paraprofessionals, Library and IT Staff, Counselors, Coaches, School Psychologists, Advisors, Mentors, Support Staff, Directors,Team Chairs, Schedulers, Assistant Principals and Principals, Central Office Staff/Administration, School Committee Members, Town Officials, Employees and community partnerships each day are working collaboratively to practice and model kindness, positivity and collaboration. And for that, our students and our school community are very fortunate.

Have a great week everyone,

Alan

Custodian Appreciation Day

It takes so many groups of talented and caring people to make a school seamlessly move forward.  There are no more dedicated, and sometimes forgotten people, than our wonderful custodians. THANK YOU to ALL of our custodians for everything they do, behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
