Dear Intermediate School Families,

Last week, we had a  great week of learning and fun at the intermediate school, especially with BOOSTER on site kicking off our Fun Run!  They have been a perfect introduction to the 2023 Random Acts of Kindness Week, which we are celebrating tomorrow through Friday at GRAIS.  This week is celebrated annually to show how we can each be a positive influence in someone else’s life.

Kindness Week:

We’ve a variety of fun activities happening around the school to promote kindness, and even got a head-start several weeks ago when we made a BIG donation of hats, mittens, and socks to the Conway House and to Our Sister’s Place, thanks to your generosity.  We also showed kindness to our custodians and maintenance staff, by conducting our Keep-the-School-Clean poster contest!  Our winners were Johnyah V, Sloan F, Lakelyn H, and Isabelle C.  Multiple laminated copies of their posters adorn the halls of our building, reminding everyone to take pride in our school.

Along with more character education topics (perseverance, wonder, and resolution) and fun with BOOSTER, this week some of the things we will be doing to spread kindness include, but are not limited to, students using BINGO cards with random acts of kindness (RAKs) on them to encourage them to do kind things for others with no expectation of reciprocation, students creating and dedicating a poster to someone in their life who inspires them, students designing thank-you cards for our wonderful PTO board members who are the driving force behind fundraisers that bring so much to our school, and students creating Valentine’s Day cards for the residents at local nursing homes.

Jump Rope for Hearts:

So as not to steal any thunder from the Fun Run, this year Mr. Ireland has held the start of our annual Jump Rope for Hearts challenge.  Each year we raise money for the American Heart Association, and as a thank you for monies donated, the students jump rope in each PE class.  This year we’ll jump from April 24th until the big jumpathon on May 12th!  This is our 11th year participating in Jump Rope for Hearts, and over those years we have raised over $47,000 for the American Heart Association!

MCAS Volunteers Needed:

The PTO will be creating a Sign-up Genius for some helpers to monitor halls during MCAS season.  Please consider volunteering if you are able and available. We really appreciate all the help we can get.

Tomorrow is Sweets and Treats Day for the Staff:

If you’d like to make a donation, it can be delivered to the main lobby tomorrow morning, where someone from the PTO will be present  to accept it.  The PTO thanks you for your support, and the staff thanks you for your generosity.
