Dear Intermediate School Families,

As this will be my last entry in the Sunday message sent from the superintendent until August, I would like to offer a final word of thanks for your support of me and the GRAIS staff.  We wish you a summer of equal parts fun and relaxation!    To the grade five families moving onto middle school, we  wish your children all the best. The bulk of my career was at FLMS as a teacher and an administrator, so I can tell you that, although it seems like a big transition, the boys and girls will be just fine and will settle into their new routines very quickly in the fall.  For those families who will have fourth or fifth graders next year, placement letters will be sent home via USPS on August 11th and will include the finalized date of our open house event, and we will look forward to seeing you then.

Survivor Day:

A very special thank you to our PTO board and all the volunteers for our field day on Friday.  It was as fun as it has always been.  The students worked well as teams and had lots of fun and shared lots of laughs!

Summer Reading Assignments and Suggestions for Grades Four, Five, and Six:

Please see the 2023 lists on our site.

Campus Programs and Summer Sport Camps:

We are offering summer sports camps and a storytelling camp.  If your child is interested in attending the summer storytelling, tennis, track, and /or volleyball camps, please email Diane Czapiga at dczapiga@freelake.org.  The forms are available on our website under the Campus Programs.

A Note about the Reading Specialist:

GRAIS is thrilled to be welcoming Mrs. Lisa Iafrate as our new reading specialist in fall.  Mrs. Iafrate has been a classroom teacher at AES in the past and most recently at FES.  She will be working with our students who receive Title I reading services.
