Dear Intermediate School Families,

Spring is definitely upon us, as MLB season is underway!  Spring also means MCAS around these parts, so please read the important information below regarding our testing that begins tomorrow.

ELA MCAS in Grades Five and Four:

Please be reminded that the fifth graders will participate in the ELA MCAS on Monday, the 10th  and Tuesday, the 11th, while the fourth graders will participate on Wednesday, the 12th and Thursday, the 13th.  There is no school on the 14th.

I have had my annual meeting with each grade to encourage each student to  prepare by;

  • enjoying a good night’s sleep

  • choosing his/her school clothing before bedtime

  • packing up his/her fully charged chromebooks, charger, and case

  • packing a healthy snack

  • having a healthy breakfast at home or grabbing one at school

  • having a refillable bottle full of water ready

  • packing up a reading for pleasure book for when he/she finishes testing

Most importantly, we want every student to arrive with a positive attitude, the utmost confidence, and a strong desire to do his or her very best work!

***CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE CELL PHONES OR SMART WATCHES ON THEIR PERSON DURING TESTING.

THE BEST WAY TO MANAGE THIS IS TO KEEP THEM HOME ON TESTING DAYS.***

If your child must have his or her phone/watch, he or she should be prepared to power it off and turn it to the homeroom teacher before testing begins.

GRAIS Art & Music Night Held at the Middle School:

This event provides an opportunity for our fourth and fifth grade students to showcase their talents for family and friends. Students will have their best artwork from this year on display in the hallways of the middle school during this event on May 18th.  Students who participate in chorus will perform in the FLMS auditorium. You are welcome to come in to walk through and view the artwork anytime between 6-8 p.m. The band will begin performing at 6:30, and the chorus will perform at 7:30.  We thank the staff and administration at Freetown-Lakeville Middle School for allowing us to use their space once again this year.  We’re looking forward to seeing you and appreciate your support of the arts at GRAIS!

Coins Helped to Buy Lunch for Custodians and Maintenance Staff:

Thank you to all who donated toward our campaign that treated our custodians and maintenance staff to lunch on April 5th.  The idea was one of many that came from the GRAIS Roundtable with the Superintendent.
