School Updates

Project 351: Project 351 is a leadership and service organization that focuses on young people who strive to lead service projects in the towns that they represent. The spring service project for the current school year will be for Cradles to Crayons from March 25th to April 5th.

The mission statement of Cradles to Crayons is to: “enable our volunteers and donors to turn compassion into action and provide the essential items that children in struggling families need to thrive at school, to participate more fully in life, to just be a kid”. These donations will go to children all across Massachusetts to help fight clothing insecurity.

Some details of our project include:

  1. Clothing donations for sizes newborn to adult medium.

  2. Donation boxes will be placed at key points in the FLRSD schools.

World Down Syndrome Day: On Thursday March 21st, we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.  This specific day was chosen because 03/21 represents the presence of three chromosomes in the 21st chromosomal pair. Down syndrome is also known as Trisomy 21. To celebrate Down syndrome day, people around the world will be wearing their most eye-catching socks which reminds us that every person is unique. Join in the celebration and wear your most unique socks.

American Heart Challenge -  The American Heart Association’s American Heart Challenge (AHC), kicked off on February 9, 2024.   Please register today, under our school, at heart.org/AHC. Once you've registered, start Finn’s Mission and complete the challenges. As a family you can help to create a community of lifesavers by learning the lifesaving steps of Hands-Only CPR. It’s quick, easy, and fun! Learn more about Finn and his special challenge HERE. Thank you for keeping hearts everywhere beating strong!

Student Government -  A BIG THANK YOU to the student government for organizing the 2024 Volleyball Tournament.  Almost 150 students and over 20 staff participate in this fun event.  Congratulations to Mr. Farrington’s team for their victory in the finals!

Freelake Leaders - A BIG THANK YOU to the Freelake Leaders for their Bake Sale at the volleyball tournament.  We appreciated their delicious treats and the money raised will go to the American Red Cross.

Artapalooza - It’s Artapalooza Time!  The day when AES students bring their families to school to create fun art projects.  They are looking for student volunteers to help at the event.  Please email Mrs. Tavares, annetavares@freelake.org to volunteer or for any questions.

Yearbook - 8th Grade "Yearbook Page" - Attention students that are not enrolled in art this year. You were sent an email at the beginning of the week offering you the opportunity to create a digital page for the yearbook. Only 8th graders have this privilege. See your email for instructions.
