Confirmation skills were making and confirming predictions along with main story elements. We focused on end punctuation and complete sentences in writing. Our math lesson was comparing weight.

In writing, we continued to work on responding to a text. For math, we learned how to add tens and ones by regrouping the set of ones into a ten. In science, we are continuing to work on seasonal patterns and patterns in the sky.

In phonics we spelled and read words with the /ow/ sound spelled with double vowel teams “ou” and “ow” as in pound and how. In math we learned how to make and interpret picture graphs and bar graphs. We worked on using events from our lives to write personal narratives. In Science we learned about the upcoming solar eclipse.

Grade 3:  This week in third grade, students learned about measurement tools.  They also learned measuring liquid volume with liters with real life word problems.  Students also learned the difference between grams and kilograms in real life word problems as well.  In reading and writing, students practiced an MCAS response to a narrative story called, “Trouble in a Fur Coat.”  In social studies, students continued to learn about the American Revolution and the Battle of Bunker Hill.  Finally, students learned and celebrated Autism Awareness Day and the importance of celebrating differences.

Art:   Kindergarteners learned about texture and had fun painting with marbles and stamps to give their work a lot of texture.  Grade 1 painted paper with texture rollers.  We will use this to weave next class.  Grade 2 is doing a great job creating a symmetrical weaving textile art.  Grade 3 is also learning about textile art as they sew and weave ribbon, yarn, beads and sequins into burlap.
