We head into March with great positivity in Laker Nation. More than 100 of our students welcomed the Class of 2028- 8th graders at FLMS- to Apponequet on Thursday of this week. Future Lakers were treated to a student-led assembly with an Academic Panel, building tours and visits to classrooms, and a large Athletic and Clubs/Activities showcase featuring every sport and club offered. Hundreds of sign-ups for next year’s activities will give the Class of 2028 a jumpstart into high school and now they will choose their electives based on the student presentations. We thank the Guidance Department, the teachers who invited the students into their lessons, the many students who volunteered, and the support staff who made this possible behind the scenes. We had a great time with the Class of 2028!

Title of the piece is: Culture in Color

Summary of Work: “Culture in Color is a woven textile design using various yarn. My concept was to show the plethora of colors that embody cities in Puerto Rico and the richness of my culture. I did this to represent how colorful my culture is and its importance and presence in my family. I created a city scene with three-dimensional buildings to contrast against the sky and water background. The woven tapestry tells a story of my heritage and its liveliness. It's never a dull moment, from the people to the atmosphere, my heritage is alive with color.”
