It’s been a spirited week and Laker Nation has not disappointed! Pajamas, old vs. young, Tourist Day with the 7 wonders of Apponequet…there has been something for everyone! The Unified Basketball team attended their Jamboree tournament at Durfee High School. Seniors attended a Bristol Community College information session and others met their deadline for four-year college applications. We capped off the week with a Pep Rally in which ARHS was honored with a Special Olympics Banner and the classes competed for a big prize-a class “Lock In”- stay tuned for more details!

Our Unified Lakers Basketball Team went out with a bang at their end of the season jamboree at Durfee High School yesterday. They lost a hard fought battle against Wareham High School with a final score of 26-32. Their second game was one for the books!  Securing a 36-34 win over Seekonk High School in not overtime, not double overtime, but triple overtime with a game winning shot by Brayden Dorsey! Over the course of the night more than half of the team made offensive contributions, including the following point totals:  Jonathan Earl - 10 points; Brayden Dorsey, Javon Thorpe, and Abigail Travassos - 8 points; Lindsey Lebeau and Alex Pappas - 6 points; Lizzie Ollerhead - 4 points; and Jacob Guilherme, Cliff Holmberg, Theo Trinque, Dylan Belleton, Zoe Trinque, and Conor Tripp all scoring 2 points each. This offensive success would not have been possible without the following Lakers helping their teammates work their way to the basket and finding their sweet spot: Celia Brady, Matthew Barboza, Dylan Belleton, Ella Hirst, Mason Macuch, Maripat Manley, Rayley Martins, Zack Paretchan, Morgan Saraceno, Claire Tomaszewski, Zoe Trinque, and Conor Tripp. Defensively, there were stand-out performances by Jonathan Earl, Lindsey Lebeau, Alex Pappas, Javon Thorpe, Abigail Travassos, Matthew Barboza, Dylan Belleton, Maripat Manley, Zoe Trinque, and Conor Tripp. These Lakers worked tirelessly to chase down the ball, secure rebounds, steal the ball, and block shots. Collectively, your Unified Lakers spent the night doing what they do best...embodying the true meaning of inclusion and sportsmanship while working together to represent ARHS with the utmost pride and respect. A big shout out to the students, staff, families, and community members who took their time to come out and support the team. Congratulations to our Unified Lakers Basketball team and their success this season!  Ending the season with a record of 3-5, but more importantly, ending the season with friendships and skills that will last a lifetime!  Hats off to you, Lakers!
