What a great year it has been! Students have ended the year with culminating activities, projects, and traditional finals, sharing their gained knowledge and skills. We are proud of our Lakers! The last day of finals will be held on Tuesday, June 20th. Students should only report to school on Wednesday if they have express permission to do so for a make-up final. Please contact your student’s guidance counselor with any questions.
There will be no school on June 19th in celebration of the federal holiday Juneteenth, sometimes referred to as "America's second Independence Day" or “Emancipation Day”, marking the emancipation of all slaves in 1865. The Massachusetts Civics Project is a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) graduation requirement. Our Class of 2025 will be the first to engage in this in the coming year. Our History Department has made a comprehensive and engaging full-year project and they tested a small pilot with their United States History and AP US History classes. Some of the proposals included recycling of plastics, a solution to the traffic issues during afternoon dismissals, a turf field, and more. Please see the students below, members of AP US History who addressed the School Committee on June 14th, with their proposal. We applaud their civic action!
