Laker Nation has entered the month of March looking toward spring and the next school year. This past Thursday, grades 9-11 met with each of their teachers and chose classes for 23-24, and what an array of choices they have! We recently presented Laker Nation to the School Committee and community, highlighting our activities, clubs, and some authentic experiences through music, art, Forensics, and more. Please check out our Program of Studies for some of our new courses, including our first AP offering for students as early as grade 10 in Computer Science, Integrated classes in Art, Music, Movement and Fitness, and Maintenance and Repair, Portuguese IV, ARHS Sports Center, and more.

We will be holding our Spring Parent/Guardian-Teacher Conferences on March 9th from 5:00 -7:00  pm. Please see the February 27, 2023 school communication with instructions on how to sign up for appointments OR contact afrizado@freelake.org in the Main Office to ask for assistance. We look forward to seeing you!

The LIFE club invited everyone to celebrate national Spread the Word Inclusion day on Wednesday and Thursday in Advisory, lunches, and at School Committee.

Spread the Word is founded on a belief, a simple observation, and an urgent goal. Our belief is that the world would be better if all people were valued, respected, embraced, and included in all aspects of our everyday life.

Our observation is that despite the best efforts of many groups around the world remain left out. One of these groups is people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, a group made of more than 200 million people, representing every country, belief system, sexual orientation, gender expression, race, and ethnicity.

Our goal is to disrupt this cycle of isolation and exclusion with grassroots action for inclusion. You can take action today to make your school, your workplace, your community, and your world more inclusive. Seek out someone who has been left out, isolated, or bullied. Sit with them. Welcome them. Be a friend. Be a teammate.

Make your pledge for inclusion today at spreadtheword.global. Spread the word!
