Have a wonderful summer!

Sept 8-15, 2017

Greetings Laker Nation,

ARHS opened its doors for the 17-18 school year to 775 students this past Tuesday.  Students walked a gauntlet of teachers who welcomed their arrival with clapping and cheering. There are some great photos of Day 1, as well as photos of our New Student Orientation, on our website’s homepage!

Parents/Guardians are invited to Somethin’s Brewin’ Book Cafe in Lakeville on Tuesday, September 12, from 6:00-8:00 pm for a book discussion of Saroo Brierley's A Long Way Home.  As you are aware, this is our One Book:One School selection read by all ARHS students during summer vacation.  Please join in the conversation!

Way to go Lakers!  ARHS was named to the 2016-2017 MIAA Sportsmanship Honor Roll!  We are well on our way to another great season.  There are a total of 280 athletes participating in 9 programs and on 18 teams.  Visit our school calendar and join us for a game or match!

ARHS has also been named a Unified Champion School by the Special Olympics.  We have been recognized for “our school’s commitment to fostering a socially inclusive school climate that emphasizes acceptance, respect and human dignity for all students.”

Learn the ins and outs of navigating the financial aid process from beginning to end at ARHS’s  Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) College Financing Seminar on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the ARHS Lecture Hall.  Last year, there were key changes in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  One important change included making the FAFSA available electronically on October 1st versus January 1st of the new year.  In addition, income information will be required from 2016 instead of  2017 tax returns.  Other important topics covered will include:

  • Financial aid applications and eligibility

  • Types of financial aid available

  • What is the actual cost of attendance

  • How colleges determine how much aid to offer

  • Comparing and understanding award letters

Handouts will be available, and parents are also encouraged to visit the MEFA site, and click the “Paying for College” tab for additional information.  Questions?  Please email Paula Money at or Jennifer Cronin, Class of 2017 Guidance Counselor, at

Auditions for the Fall Play - The Great Gatsby - are this coming Monday.  Additionally, many of ARHS’s clubs and activities will be meeting this week.  Please check the site calendar under the Athletics and Clubs tab on our site.
