Greetings Laker Nation,
Our French Exchange students and their teachers from Lycée Hilaire de Chardonnet enjoyed their first few days at ARHS. They were welcomed by their host families on Wednesday, greeted by Student Council on Thursday and serenaded by the band on Friday! All of our guests and their host families will enjoy a day in Boston this Saturday. Next week brings a pot luck dinner as well as various continued educational and cultural opportunities.
Mrs. Kirk’s AP Environmental Science students enjoyed a day of discovery at the Lloyd Center for the Environment in Dartmouth, MA. Stay tuned to our site for photos of this excellent learning opportunity.

Class of 2018 Parents/Guardians learned the ins and outs of navigating the financial aid process from beginning to end at ARHS’s Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) College Financing Seminar this past week. Parents/guardians were and are also encouraged to visit the MEFA sitehttp://www.mefa.org/ and click the “Paying for College” tab for additional information. Please email Paula Money at firstname.lastname@example.org or Jennifer Cronin, Class of 2018 Guidance Counselor, at email@example.com you have any questions.
PSATs were administered to students over 150 students in grades 10 and 11 this past week. On average, students who take the PSAT/NMSQT score higher on the SAT than those who do not. The PSAT/NMSQT and SAT measure the same skills and have the same format, directions and question types. The PSAT/NMSQT also provides entry into the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions as well as other scholarship and recognition programs. The Student Search Service provides PSAT/NMSQT participants free admission and financial aid information from colleges, universities and scholarship programs. The materials students receive help them start thinking about and exploring higher education opportunities. Most importantly, the PSAT/NMSQT Score Report Plus gives students comprehensive, personalized feedback on their test performance, allowing them to see which questions they answered incorrectly and which academic skills they should work to improve. Included in the score report is access to free SAT Test Prep. Special thanks to Mrs. Money for coordinating this opportunity.
Week 2 of College Fair Season is this coming week. Approximately twenty-five college representatives will attend ARHS and offer information about their schools to our Classes of 2018, 2019 and 2020.
