The Apponequet Music Boosters presented scholarships to the following Seniors: Carly Byers, Devin Christensen, Aaron Connolly, Zakary Ganhadeiro, Nicholas Lambert, and Sean Stonehouse. The Apponequet Music Boosters also presented the Music Department with a check for $5000 to be used to benefit the Music Program at ARHS. Students in Mrs. Erwin’s Art 2, Digital Art and Advanced Placement Studio Art classes entered their original designs into a logo contest held by the Lakeville Arts Council for their annual Lakeville Arts and Music Festival. Congratulations to Carley Byers, who placed 1st in the contest, as well as 2nd place recipient, Samantha Fouquette and third place recipient, Kayla Darling. Each of the students were awarded art supply store gift cards. Carley’s award winning design will be featured on all of the material advertising the event, as well as on t-shirts that will be available at the festival. Carley will also be recognized at a ceremony at the festival on Saturday, September 30th.
AP Physics class members made Rube Goldberg Machines. This year's machines included: an Alabama-themed machine that played Sweet Home Alabama, a turtle-themed machine that fed a turtle, a sports-themed machine that hit a hole-in-one, a sea-themed machine that knocked bottles into a recycling bin, and a culinary-themed machine that poured sparkling cider into a glass. Watching the machines in action was a thrill! Each machine had a minimum of 8 steps, used at least 4 different forms of energy and at least 4 different simple machines. They were showcased by Mrs. Mills during class.
See our music students this weekend! The Jazz Ensemble and Select Choir will be performing "in the tent" at the Lakeside Festival on May 26th at 7:00 pm.
Class of 2017 members received an important “End of the Year Packet” at a recent Class meeting. Information about graduation and all culminating activities was included in the packet. Please access a copy on our site or via the email sent to all parents/guardians earlier in April.
Attorney General Maura Healey launched an education campaign to help students and families in Massachusetts better understand financial aid packages offered by colleges. In particular, MA has a new hotline for students to call and online resources to help them better understand their financial award letters. Students and families with questions or concerns about financial aid award letters should call the Student Loan Assistance Unit’s hotline at 1-888-830-6277 or visit their website: www.mass.gov/ago/StudentAwardLetter. Here are links to helpful resources at FacebookandTwitter.
