Greetings Laker Nation,

A huge congratulations to Jacob Carlson!  This Class of 2017 member became the USA Gymnastics Jr. Olympic  Massachusetts State Champion, Level 10, at the State  Championships held at Yellow Jackets  Gymnastics Center (Middleton, MA).  Jacob will compete April 8th at the Regional  Championships.  Jacob, who has already been accepted to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, has best wishes from his ARHS community!

The Apponequet Majorette Open Class Team went undefeated this year ultimately winning Championships and achieving the season high score!  The Team includes: Samantha Turcotte - Senior & Captain, Alexis Carpentier - Senior & Co-Captain, Autumn Csorba - Senior Co-Captain, Hannah Senra - Senior, Hannah Sousa - Senior, Jillian Page - Junior, Brina Valeri - Sophomore, Kate Chretien - Freshman, Allison Donnelly - Freshman, Paris Inacio - Freshman, Meghan Redpath - Freshman; Kayla Rogers - Freshman, and Melanie Williams - Freshman.  These girls worked together through the year performing for Varsity Football games, parades and at the New England Majorette Association Competitions.

 Also, raise your pucks to ARHS Hockey Player Jarod Stevens.  This Class of 2017 member was selected for the Standard Times Hockey SuperTeam!

SRO Bartholomew and the second semester SRO Internship class visited the Lakeville Police Department and Wareham District Court.  Participants received a tour of the police station and courthouse as well as an opportunity to sit in the courtroom for arraignments and restraining orders. The class members met many people from various departments and learned about courtroom procedures.

Students in Criminal Law classes participated in Project SLAM at the Bristol County Jail and House of Corrections. Attending students listened to the life stories of inmates and toured the facility.  Thanks to Mr. Solomon for organizing this trip.

The musical You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown will be performed at Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville, MA on April 6th, 7th and 8th at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available for purchase at the door and cost $7 for students and seniors and $10 for general admission. The musical is based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz; the book, music and lyrics are by Clark Gesner.  The show is directed by Ms. Kristen Lippincott who joins Mr. Edward Ledwith, the musical director, and Mrs. Ashley Rimbey, the choreographer, in producing the show.  Devin Christiansen plays the lead role of Charlie Brown and is joined by Carley Byers as Sally Brown, Lily Jeswald as Lucy van Pelt,  Austin Lopes as Linus van Pelt, Nick Maloof as Schroeder and Sean Stonehouse as Snoopy.  Together with an ensemble that includes Woodstock, Pig Pen, Frieda, and the Little Red Haired girl, The Apponequet Players are sure to entertain both children and adults in this nostalgic, humorous, and high energy musical performance.

ARHS’s Class of 2017 is hosting it’s second annual Spring Family Fun Day on Saturday April 8th at 9:30 am in the Apponequet Cafeteria. The event will include: a continental breakfast, arts and crafts, face painting, photos with the Easter Bunny and raffle baskets. The event will conclude with an egg hunt on the football field at 11:00 am.  Lisa Fournier, Transition Specialist from South Coast Collaborative, will be here on April 11 at 6:30 pm for the next SEPAC meeting in the ARHS library.  Lisa will discuss topics surrounding transition from high school to adult life.  Parents/guardians of students in grades 7-12 on IEP’s are highly encouraged to attend.  Contact if you have any questions or visit our Facebook page…Freetown Lakeville Parents Advisory Council.

It’s that time again!  The Green Sneaker Run 5K to benefit the Eric C Johnson Memorial Scholarship will take place here at Apponequet on Saturday, May 20th.  Check in and registration starts at 9:00 am.  Participants registered before May 1st will receive a T-Shirt.  For additional information, please see the flyer posted on our ARHS website.

THEY ARE HERE!!!  The Spring Apparel choices including the 2017 Senior Designed T-shirts ARE HERE!!   The Seniors designed them but all players in that sport can purchase them.  These particular shirts will only be available THIS season.  Because we want the apparel to get back to the athletes during the season, we are accepting orders only until April 7th!!  Don't miss out and try to place the order on the 8th!!  Apponequet Lanyards and Car Clings including every sport at Apponequet make for great gifts for that new driver!!!  Click here and purchase some really cool Apponequet Apparel while helping raise money for the athletes via The Apponequet Athletic Boosters!!

Attorney General Maura Healey launched an education campaign to help students and families in Massachusetts better understand financial aid packages offered by colleges.  ARHS Engineering teachers are seeking donations of new or used LEGO bricks for use in our Engineering and Robotics courses.  Any and all bricks will be helpful for students to create structures to incorporate into their designs.  You can drop off any donations, in bags or boxes marked ARHS Engineering, to the Main Office on school days until 2:30 pm.

Students in grade 10 seeking assistance with Math MCAS preparation are welcome to attend free tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:00 - 2:30 pm, in Room 101.  Students in grade 9 seeking assistance with Biology MCAS preparation are welcome to attend on Mondays, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, in Room 132.  If you have any questions, please contact your child’s Guidance Counselor at (508) 947-2660.
