March 3 - 10, 2017

March 3-10, 2017

Greetings Laker Nation,

Save the Date for our Visual Arts display at The Great Ponds Gallery at the Lakeville Public Library.  Gallery attendees on March 4th, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, will view the beautiful art work of students from ARHS and Old Colony.  For more information about this event, please visit our site.

Congratulations to Coach Cabucio and the Laker Boys Basketball team for becoming SCC “quad” champs.  This is the first time in 19 years our boys have grabbed a slice of the title. The Boys also won the Shawn P. Cotter Green Wave Tournament - first time in 11 years!  Way to go!  The Laker Boys ended their season with a thrilling competition against Jeremiah Burke.  Although the Lakers lost 58-57, the boys, as well as their coaches, should be proud of an excellent season!

Come cheer on the Lady Lakers as they take on Abington in the second round of tournament play.  The game takes place at 6:00 pm in Abbington on Friday, March 3rd.  Best wishes Lady Lakers and coaches!

A round of applause to Julia Garland, Class of 2019.  Julia was selected to attend the New England Young Writers' Conference at Middlebury College in Vermont.   While attending, she will write and conference with her peers, as well as with published authors.  The conference takes place May 18-21.

Congratulations to the following students who were accepted into the 2017 Southeastern Massachusetts School Bandmaster's Association (SEMSBA) Music Festival:  Senior Band: Zak Ganhadeiro (Zak had the highest score on his instrument), Senior Chorus: Devin Christiansen, and Junior Chorus: Grace Couto.

Kudos to our School-Based Enterprise (SBE) Laker Hut School Store and Mr. Pollino for earning Gold Re-certification.  Our SBE students will participate in the exclusive SBE Academy and competition held at the International Career and Development Conference in Anaheim California this April. Three members will represent our chapter for the 5th year in a row. Our SBE students have earned top 10 finishes the past two years.  Here is a link to the article in DECA Direct. The article contains a link to the list of schools that have earned certification. We are one of eight schools from MA that was certified Gold. There were only 360 schools certified.

Way to go Carolyn Cody and Shawna Walker!  Carolyn and Shawna  will open the 2017 Massachusetts DECA Leadership Conference by singing their version of the National Anthem.  Follow this link to hear their beautiful voices:   Shawna and Carolyn 4.m4a
