Congratulations to The Laker Hut! ARHS Laker Hut received Gold Certification from DECA for the 5th straight year, earning the opportunity for three members to compete at Nationals in Anaheim, CA, this April.
Student representatives from ARHS’s Rainbow Alliance attended the third of five Massachusetts Regional GSA Leadership Council meetings. Planned, organized, and implemented by statewide student leadership, the GSA Council Meetings serve to "provide networking and skill-building opportunities for GSA student leaders...to promote student leadership and improve school climate." This meeting's agenda was focused on the varied ways in which we self-identify (i.e., race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) as well as the processing of learning about and acceptance of one another's diverse identities and experiences.
All students in grades 9-11 attended Program of Studies presentations and started the course selection process for the 17-18 academic year. The Program of Studies is available to all students and families via the school site and through Naviance.
Class of 2017 members attended a presentation on Wednesday (2/15) for the official release of the Class of 2017 ARHS Scholarship Book. With over sixty entries, the Scholarship Book provides detailed information regarding scholarship opportunities and their application processes for students planning to attend a two- or four-year college, university, trade school or similar higher education program. For student viewing, print copies of the Scholarship Book can be found in the high school Library and Guidance Department. Electronic copies and applications can be found in student's' Naviance accounts andClass of 2017 Official Website. The Apponequet Engineering teachers are seeking donations of new or used LEGO bricks for use in our Engineering and Robotics courses. Any and all bricks will be helpful for students to create structures to incorporate into their designs. Engineering incorporates the engineering design process into a variety of challenging projects and Robotics uses the LEGO EV3 Mindstorms robotics kits to complete a variety of engineering design projects. You can drop off any donations, in a bag or box marked Apponequet Engineering, to Apponequet’s Main Office on school days until 2:30 pm.
Students in grade 10 seeking assistance with Math MCAS preparation are welcome to attend free tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:00 - 2:30 pm, in Room 101. Students in grades 10 seeking assistance with ELA MCAS preparation are welcome to attend on Mondays, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, in Room 113. Students in grade 9 seeking assistance with Biology MCAS preparation are welcome to attend on Mondays, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, in Room 132.
