Greetings Laker Nation,
Representative Keiko M. Orrall and Representative Paul A. Schmid, III spoke to students in Ms. Cowley’s and Mrs. Barnicoat’s classes. We thank these officials for taking time out of their busy schedules and for promoting civic education. Skylar Cowley, Class of 2013, Legislative Aide was also in attendance and took a turn speaking to students interested in political futures.
Our Fall Parent/Guardian Night was well attended. Over 848 conferences were held. If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child’s teachers to discuss academic progress. Spring Parent/Guardian Night is March 15, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 pm.

ARHS inducted 64 new members into its chapter of the National Honor Society. New members were welcomed by current members in a ceremony that included speeches by NHS’s officers.
We are pleased to announce that fifty (50) members of the Class of 2018 received John and Abigail Adams Scholarships at an Achievement Awards gathering. Students received these scholarships as acknowledgement of their terrific performance on their ELA, Math and Biology MCAS exams. In addition, Leanne Kendall received her Boston Globe 2017 All-Scholastic Award. A slide presentation of the Achievement Awards Assembly is posted on our site. Way to go Brittney Simas and Addison Graham! These Class of 2018 members received Laker Nation Awards for their Achievement, Resilience, Honor and Self-Advocacy. Along with Laker t-shirts and certificates, each received a complimentary prom ticket.

Congratulations to “Oat Mel” and “The Finnishers”! These two Wellness Volleyball teams competed for title of Semester I Champion. In the end, it was "Oat Mel" that persevered. The victorious team then competed against the faculty during the school-wide pep rally. In a hard fought battle, the student team was defeated by the faculty! The following students were participants: Adam Seablom, Brooke Mercure, Morgan Harris, Reghan Viera and Tom Richer.
HOSA, ARHS’s medical students club, was treated to guest lecturer Jody Reeves. As a Nurse Practitioner, Reeves, had much to share with our curious future science majors!
Tom Nassr, ARHS Class of 2010, presented to students in business classes. After graduating from Quinnipiac University with a dual major, Entrepreneurship and Philosophy, Nassr co-founded and is the CEO of Checkmate.digital. Nassr spoke to the classes regarding his experiences at ARHS DECA, Quinnipiac and as an entrepreneur.
Laker Choice Awards, an evening for Class of 2018 superlative award recognition, was a huge hit. Be sure to visit our site for photos.
The Apponequet Boulder Club, a new pilot supervised by Mr. Joshua Cabucio, visited Carabiners Climbing and Fitness, in New Bedford and engaged in its first ascent. Photos of their adventure are posted on our site.
SRO Bartholomew's Law Enforcement internship is moving forward with more exciting events. Sgt. Mike Dwyer from the Lakeville Police Department joined the class this week to explain the SEMLAC team mission and appropriate SWAT response. The students enjoyed learning about the many towns that participate and make up the team, as well as checking out all of Sgt. Dwyer’s gear. Next on the agenda, the students are planning a trip to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department jail and crime lab.
