Dear ARHS Students and Families,

It has been a busy summer at ARHS. To date, new student technologies have been purchased, several new teachers and coaches joined our staff, and a new library classroom space was created.  Currently, finishing touches are being placed on student schedules, plans for orientation are being finalized, and an ‘18 is being painted out at Griffith Field to signify the start of a new year.  Laker Pride is everywhere and we are anticipating your return.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 5th. Please do the following before then.

  • Review the Student Handbook on our website under Annual Resources

  • Review, update, & return the Data Verification Sheet previously mailed to you

  • Examine your Course List and be aware that your Guidance Counselor returns on August 25th

  • Complete your Summer Assignments including our One Book:One School selection

The following are pieces of information you need to know regarding the first day of school.

  • Tuesday, September 5th is a Day 1

  • School opens at 7:00 AM (early arrivals wait in the Lecture Hall)

  • Advisory begins promptly at 7:10 AM

  • Grid schedules will be provided in Advisory

  • Lockers will be assigned - students are to provide their own locks

  • Teachers will provide Course Orientations & Textbooks

  • School will conclude at 1:43 PM

  • Wednesday, September 6th is also a Day 1, dismissal is at 12:43 PM, as it is on all Wednesdays

We will continue to use PlusPortals. Grade updates will be accessible every two weeks starting on September 15th.    A complete list of dates is available in the ARHS Handbook.

The Fall athletic season for football begins August 18th and for all other sports on August 24th. “Freshman & New Student Orientation” is on August 23rd, “Class of 2018 Laker Pride Night” for grade 12 students is August 24th, and “Fall Parent/Guardian Night” is November 16th.
