As you know, the governor has directed all schools to remain closed and to continue remote learning until the end of the school year. For us in the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District, this is until June 25th, 2020.
The Commissioner of Education, Jeffrey Riley, has also issued additional guidance to school districts on remote learning. That new guidance now includes power standards to be addressed that are most critical for student success in the next grade level, as well as, the enhanced participation of student  engagement in their lessons between now and the end of the school year.
The district leadership team has met to address these new requirements from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) which each building principal will share with you.  These updated Remote Learning Plans will focus on the teaching of new content as well as the continued review of previously learned concepts. School based remote learning plans will include assignment grading rubrics that will be used to assess student assignments as part of the enhanced learning expectations. School based teams of professionals have been created that will reach out to students and families not participating on a consistent basis in remote learning assignments to see how we can best support and encourage a successful learning experience from home.  We fully realize the burden that remote learning has placed on families and will do everything we can to help support you in this endeavor. Your continued partnership in your child’s remote learning is critical to their success as learners and to our collective success as their educators.
Sincerely,
Pat Gablinske
Director of Curriculum & Assessment
