Greetings Laker Nation,
A letter from Officer Bartholomew and the Lakeville PD -
Dear Apponequet Parents and Guardians,
Good morning, this is an exciting time for both students and parents, prom and graduation season are upon us. This letter is to assist parents and students in making this the safest prom and graduation time possible. I do not want to see tragedy hit our Lakers and hope this letter will assist in opening up communication with your teenager.
Below is a link for a parent’s resource guide entitled “Safe & Substance - Free” to assist in keeping your teen safe this prom and graduation season. I believe you will find it helpful, as it includes many topics to speak with your child about, including Underage Drinking, Social Host Laws, and parenting resources. We want your teen to be safe and show responsibility during this season.
I wish all our seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors.
Officer Valerie Bartholomew
Congratulations to the Class of 2017! These are the post-graduate statistics for our soon-to-be-graduates: 91% to four or two year colleges, 3% to the military, and 6% to employment.
SRO Bartholomew and Sgt. Maltais held a successful and powerful Distracted Driving Simulation for members of the classes of 2017 and 2018. We thank our SRO, the Lakeville Police, Fire and Emergency Personnel and Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home for this presentation.
Six students accompanied by Mr. Glen and Mrs. Mills traveled to Spencer State Forest to launch a weather balloon for a Meteorology class. The balloon’s payload carried a GPS tracking device, a video recorder, along with sensors to measure temperature, pressure, and altitude. The balloon was expected to climb to an altitude of 100,000 ft and burst due to the expansion of the helium. The payload was located approximately 70 miles away in a tree, 40 feet up, on a cranberry farm in Middleborough, MA and a plan is being formulated to recover its contents to analyze the data.
Congratulations to the ARHS Music Department for a lovely Spring Concert!
The Science Department honored over 70 students at its annual Science Awards Ceremony. It was a wonderful opportunity for our faculty to recognize the hard work and dedication of our future scientists.
Congratulations to Senior members of National Honor Society who received their Honor Cords at the Cord Ceremony held this past week. In addition, a great big welcome to newly installed officers Devin Ahearn, Aaron Connolly, Sydney Abbott and Carolyn Cody. Special thanks to Mrs. Money for assisting with Honor Bowls in the absence of Mrs. Nardi and to Mrs. Craig whose planning and coordination made for a wonderful night.
