Music In Our Schools Night and Annual Art Show
This week, at the Art Show, our 6th grade students unveiled some of the extra projects they were working on this year. One, is the 5th Annual Bottle Cap Mural that is ironically called "Turtles don't like plastic". Hundreds of bottle caps were individually attached. Hanging in the lobby is another sculptural addition made with 300+ plastic bottles that were painted, cut and assembled to mimic Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures. Maybe you have seen one of them at the MFA or RISD Museum? In addition, the 6th graders made and sold Australian Animal Keychains to raise money for WIRES an Australian based animal rescue organization. We are proud to announce they raised $175.00. Great job!
Students in the 7th and 8th grade Chorus and Band joined with the High School musical groups in a great night of music. In addition to the combined Choral and Orchestral performances, the High School Jazz Band performed in the lobby area while students and families perused the displayed student artwork. Thank you to the music and art teachers for your efforts in putting on a great night!
FLRSD Wellness Department’s Annual Faculty Basketball Scholarship Game: The game, held on Friday, March 6 at Apponequet High School was a great success. The faculty was victorious over the Apponequet Seniors. Congratulations to Mr. Oliveira, Mr. Gallagher, Mr. Grandfield, Mr. L’Heureux and Mr. Mangini.
