Congratulations to Jonan Garate, Class of 2019! Jonan won a Silver Key in the Boston Globe Scholastic Art and Writing Award competition. Jonan’s digital piece, entitled "Pop", is posted on our site.

 

A round of applause for all of our FLRSD Choir and Select Choir students! The 2nd Annual FreeLake "Music Fest," held today at FLMS was awesome. Music Fest brought together students from all 5 schools for a day of rehearsals and related musical activities. Music Fest concluded with an excellent concert.

 

Brittney L’Heureux, Class of 2019, Parker Abbott, Class of 2020, and Chase Miranda, Class of 2021, are our first 3 Lakeville Fire Department Interns. ARHS is excited about this new Internship opportunity for our students.  

 

Jillian Stanton, Class of 2019, and John Nasiff, Class of 2020, are Semester 2 Interns in our LifeSkills class. Sean Reynolds, Class of 2022, and Austin Lopes, Class of 2019, are our Semester 2 Library Interns.

 

Mrs. Fontaine, Class of 2019 Guidance Counselor, is pleased to report that 70% of our grade 12 students have applied to one or more four-year colleges. Good news has been rolling in!  

 

Students in Mr. Mare’s and Mr. Glen’s classes toured the Amazon fulfillment center in Freetown/Fall River today. While on tour, students learned about the company, the facility, the employment opportunities and much more. Special thanks to George Wall who arranged the tour and guided us through the facility.

 

The ARHS Girls’ Indoor Track team was crowned South Coast Conference champions this week for the second consecutive year...Congratulations!

 

Winter Varsity Athletic Standings will be presented here each week:  Basketball Boys: 10-5-0, Basketball Girls 15-2-0, Hockey 6-10-0, Wrestling 3-1-0, Track Boys 1-5-0, Track Girls 5-1-0, Swim Boys 5-5-0 and Swim Girls 6-4-0.  Please visit our site to keep posted on our up-and-coming athletic events. ARHS’s third “Career and College Day” was a huge success! More than 50 local professionals, including numerous ARHS alumni, shared their career narratives with our students. Thanks to everyone who attended. Thanks to Mrs. Cronin for organizing this event.

 

Next week is ARHS’s “Dude. Be Nice.” week. We will mark the week by engaging in  charitable giving and random acts of kindness. We will cap it off with an assembly that includes a motivational speaker.

 

Please save the date for our Spring Parent/Guardian Night scheduled for Thursday, March 14th. The evening begins at 5:00 pm. with a 60 minute presentation entitled “Vaping:  The New Look of Nicotine Addiction.” Parent/Teacher Conferences run from

6:00-8:00 pm. An informational handout was emailed to all parents/guardians.

 

On Thursday, March 21st, ARHS will host its first ever Bristol Palooza with Bristol Community College (BCC). Interested students will complete the application process, schedule placement testing, and work on the FAFSA with the support of BCC staff. All interested students received a detailed presentation, as well as an application this past week. Join the Laker Athletic Development Program.  This no cost opportunity is an after school program, open to all students, specifically designed to enhance athletic development and ability. Areas of focus are speed, power, agility, strength and mobility.  The program, overseen by Mr. Fyfe, runs Monday-Thursday from 2:00-3:15 pm in the Laker Fitness Room. Please call Mr. Fyfe at extension 1217 if you have any questions. Come join us in building Laker Pride while building Laker strength!
