Greetings Laker Nation, “The Wizard of Oz” opened last night to a packed house! The show was great. There are only two more opportunities to see our students perform. Shows are Friday and Saturday, April 5th, and 6th at 7pm. Tickets are available at the door and cost $10 for students/seniors and $12 for general admission.

Greetings Laker Nation, ARHS Band and Choir students are participating in several audition music festivals this year. Alex Parent, Class of 2022, sang in the Treble Chorus at the SEMMEA Jr. District Music Festival. Four students will be participating in the SEMSBA Sr. Music Festival. Jonathan Abbott, Class of 2019, Grace Couto, Class of 2020, and Kiara Marshall, Class of 2021, will be singing in the Chorus, and Ethan Fahey, Class of 2019, will be playing in the Concert Band. Three Class of 2022 students--Ericka Correia, Karina Jacobsen, and Grace Young--will be singing in the Treble Chorus at the SEMSBA Jr. Music Festival.

Greetings Laker Nation, On Thursday, January 10th, the library hosted award winning journalist and crime reporter Maureen Boyle who discussed her book “Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer” with Mr. Solomon’s Criminal Law and Mrs. Rimbey’s Forensic classes. Ms. Boyle gave students behind the scenes information to one of the worst serial killings cases that happened in and around our neighborhood and, to this day, remains unsolved. Ms. Boyle will be returning to the ARHS Library on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 6:30 pm to discuss her book to the entire community; all are welcome to attend. Greetings Laker Nation, Congratulations to Hannah Levin. Hannah, currently ranked number 1 in the Class of 2019, was awarded the Francis W. Gallishaw Memorial Scholarship. This Scholarship, presented in conjunction with the South Coast Educational Collaborative and the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, was presented on December 13th. In addition to $1000.00, Hannah received a certificate, a speech in her honor and a luncheon at Stonehill. Well deserved, Hannah!

A Parent/Guardian Naviance training session will be held from 5:30-6:00 pm. All teachers, guidance personnel and administrators will be present for individual conferences from 6:00-8:00 pm. Please begin the night by stopping at the Main Office for a map and a copy of your student’s schedule.

Greetings Laker Nation, Ruta Sepetys, author of Salt to the Sea, skyped to our student body. Sepetys shared insight into her historical novel, showed artifacts associated with the time period and responded to questions. This was a great learning experience for our students. Greetings Laker Nation, The Guidance Department is sponsoring College Fairs for grade 10, 11 and 12 students on September 20th, September 27th and October 4th. Over seventy colleges and universities will be represented. The College Fairs offer students the opportunity to meet Admissions Representatives and gather information about individual schools, majors, campus activities and athletics. Students who take the time to engage in meaningful conversations with the college representatives often find that the face-to-face interactions help to personalize the competitive college admissions process.
Greetings Laker Nation, ARHS opened its doors for the 18-19 school year to 760 students this past Tuesday. Students walked a gauntlet of teachers who welcomed their arrival with clapping and cheering. There are some great photos of Day 1 on our website’s homepage!
