Principal's Message

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  Statistics from the National Institute of Mental Health show that 20% of youth ages 13-18 live with a mental health condition, and 50% of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin before the age of 14.  Working on supporting our students who deal with social and emotional challenges continues to be a focus across the district.  I am including an article that discusses teaching children self-compassion, which can improve both motivation and emotional well-being.  Even with the strongest supports, sometimes more help is needed.  If you suspect that your child is struggling with their mental health, please reach out to your pediatrician or school counselor for assistance.
