The end of the school year is always an exciting time, with many opportunities to celebrate your children’s accomplishments. We are only two weeks away from the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2018 from Apponequet Regional High School. Please be sure to check the individual school calendars for a detailed list of events at each school. The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee approved the 2018-19 school calendar last week. Please check the website for scheduling purposes for next school year.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee approved the 2018-19 school calendar this week. Please check the website for scheduling purposes for the next school year. The committee voted the FY 19 school budget of $38,273,474, a 2.2% increase from the FY 18 budget. This was a number recommended by both towns at the Regional Finance Committee meeting. This number does not include any additional staff but does maintain level services and support for our current programming. Highlights include increased revenue through school choice, athletic fees, and food service. Please refer to our website for the most recent budget information.
Massachusetts is celebrating Leading the Nation Week (May 7-11) and as part of that state-wide event we have posted a FLRSD Leading the Nation link on our website highlighting some of our proud accomplishments this past year. We continue to “Raise the Bar” for all our students. Please take a look at our link: https://sites.google.com/freelake.org/freetown-lakevilleregionalscho/home?authuser=0
This week five of our outstanding high school students were recognized at the thirtieth annual South Coast Conference Academic All-Star Banquet. The five Apponequet Regional High School students recognized for their outstanding academic performance were: Nicole Bouzan, Shannon Carmichael, Hannah Darling, Owen Foster, and Leanne Kendall. Congratulations to all five individuals and good luck next year as you begin your college careers.
I will continue to use the One-Call Communication System to provide families with the necessary school cancellation and delay information. Please keep in mind that my decision will be based on multiple reliable sources, including multiple town contacts, and will focus on the safety for all children and adults. There are only 44 school days left and our last day is, Friday, June 22, 2018.
