The FLRSD 2019-20 School Improvement Plans for all schools were submitted to the school committee this week. All five plans are available for your review on our district website. As we enter into a busy two weeks before the winter break, we will continue to remain focused on academic success for all of our students.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Please take this opportunity to reflect on what is truly important and enjoy some quality time with family and friends. As we complete nearly one third of the school year, please know that we remain committed to all of our Freetown and Lakeville families during this holiday season.

As I reported yesterday, the Freetown-Lakeville Middle School has been in the news this week regarding four confirmed cases of Pertussis and a recent Air Quality Assessment initiated by the school district. Please be informed that the health and safety of our students and staff remains our number one priority. It is unfortunate that the media has shared only some information and raised anxiety within the school community. Please advance to the next page for a link to an excellent informational video on pertussis and the link to the air quality report. I have been in constant contact with our school physician, medical professionals, and the Department of Public Health throughout this process and all parties support our actions at the schools.

In honor of Veteran’s Day 2019, the FLRSD community would like to recognize, remember, and pay respect to all of our brave women and men for their service to our country. Please take the opportunity this long holiday weekend to honor those local heroes from both towns for their service to our nation. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them” - John F. Kennedy

Happy Halloween! Please be reminded that there is no school tomorrow for all students as we participate in a district professional development day. We have already completed ¼ of this academic year. As the cold weather and holiday season approaches, the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District will continue to use the One-Call Communication System to provide families with necessary safety updates and school cancellation or delay information.
