Today many schools in the Commonwealth participated in a moment of silence in honor of the fifteenth anniversary of September 11, 2001. This Sunday, September 11, 2016, our nation will mark the anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in our nation’s history.
am very excited to introduce several new and familiar administrators to the leadership team for this year: Director of Curriculum and Assessment, Dr. Marlene Correia, Director of Student Services, Ellen Harrington, Freetown Elementary School Principal, Michael Ward, Assawompset Elementary School Principal, Bethany Pineault, and GRAIS Principal, Dr. Elizabeth Sullivan. In addition we have hired over 25 new employees to strengthen our high functioning teaching staff at all five schools.
On behalf of the entire school district staff, I would like to thank you for all your support this past school year. Please take the time during your summer break to relax with family and friends. This is also a perfect time to support leisure reading and to receive academic support in areas of growth for your children. I am confident that we have many exciting programs and plans for our students in the upcoming school year.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District School Committee and Administrative Team would like to thank youfor your support at our recent town meetings in Freetown and Lakeville this past Monday, June 6, 2016. We truly appreciate your support with our operational budget and the capital project article involving the GRAIS swimming pool that was long overdue. The school committee revised the FY 17 budget to $35,506,867 which includes $515,000 of Excess and Deficiency funding and additional documented revenues. The total spending is $36,383,867.
