Raise the Bar

The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District had the honor of hosting the Tyler John Trahan Medal of Liberty Memorial Event today at Freetown Elementary School. The Trahan family was present along with many town and state officials (see attached program). The Massachusetts Medal of Liberty is awarded to Massachusetts service men and women who have been killed in action or who died as a result of wounds received in action. It is presented on behalf of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as Commander-in-Chief of the Commonwealth.  Please remember to take some time to honor those local heroes that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country during this Memorial Day weekend. “Poor is the nation that has no heroes, but poorer still is the nation that having heroes, fails to remember and honor them” - unknown.

The end of the school year is always an exciting time with so many opportunities to celebrate your children’s accomplishments. We are only two weeks away from the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2019 from Apponequet Regional High School . Please be sure to check the individual school calendars for detailed lists of events at each school. The 2019-20 school calendar remains on our website for planning purposes. Only 16 school days are left in this academic year. Our last school day is Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee voted to accept an adjusted budget of $40,038,585 which represents a 4.61% increase over the FY’19 Regional Budget. We need your support more than ever as we move toward town meetings on Monday, June 3, 2019.  A key message of support by the towns took place as the Regional Finance Committee voted to recommend and support the current request with both towns at their most recent meeting.
