Coronavirus Update

As a result of Governor Baker’s announcement this week on the Reopening of Massachusetts, the Freetown-Lakeville School District is currently reviewing the ability to open our campus summer programs which includes our Kids Cafe, Sports Camps, and Extended School Year activities. The district is considering a modified five week summer schedule (Monday-Thursday) for each program starting July 6, 2020 and ending August 7, 2020. We recognize the timeliness, safeguards, and CDC requirements that must be in place prior to moving forward as part of phase II of the state plan. Our top priority remains the safety and health of our students and staff members.  A final decision on these programs will be made no later than June 1, 2020.

The FLRSD School Committee approved a new 2020-21 school calendar. Please see the district website for dates and scheduling purposes. We have also provided a link to a Parent/Family Survey regarding our remote learning initiative for your input. Please click on the Parent Family Survey Button below to help evaluate our instruction and learning plans. Your continued support and positive involvement is critical to our future success. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The breakfast/lunch program continues each week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-10:30 at the Freetown-Lakeville Middle School (1,317 meals served to date). Each pickup will include two days worth of breakfast and lunch. The Technology Department has now distributed 264 chromebooks to families for remote learning purposes.  The Superintendent’s Office continues to remain open during the pandemic 9-12 each day.
The Superintendent’s Corner will contain district updates, and the school level information will be sent directly by the principals at each school.  Our next school committee meeting will be on May 27, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. with a remote telecast of our ARHS Top Ten Students. Our agenda and connection information is  available on our website under Announcements. Please continue to stay safe during this challenging time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call  508-923-2000 ext. 1703 or email me at rmedeiros@freelake.org.

As a school community please remember to take some time to honor those local heroes that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country during this Memorial Day holiday weekend. “Poor is the nation that has no heroes, but poorer still is the nation that, having heroes, fails to remember and honor them” - unknown.
