Raise The Bar

As we celebrate and recognize the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. this long holiday weekend, please remember his famous quote, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically, intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.'' As a school community we must continue to work together for the future success of all of our children.

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 20, 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy.  Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District FY 21 preliminary budget will be presented on February 5, 2020. We will need your continued support as we look to provide appropriate resources to meet our growing educational needs. I will keep all stakeholders updated throughout the budget season on upcoming meetings and events. The next Regional Finance Committee meeting will be Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library.

The winter season and cold weather returns this weekend. The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District will continue to use the One-Call Communication System to provide families with necessary safety updates and school cancellation or delay information. The safety of our students and staff remains my top priority.

Our next school committee meeting will be next Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in the ARHS Library at 6:30 p.m.,  topics will include our 2020-21 school calendar, the ARHS Program of Studies, and the Athletic Department. Please enjoy the long holiday weekend. I look forward to our continued drive toward excellence, as we continue to raise the bar for all children.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call 508-923-2000 ext. 1703 or email me at rmedeiros@freelake.org
