Raise the Bar

Massachusetts is celebrating Leading the Nation Week (May 7-11) and as part of that state-wide event we have posted a FLRSD Leading the Nation link on our website highlighting some of our proud accomplishments this past year. We continue to “Raise the Bar” for all our students. Please take a look at our link:     https://sites.google.com/freelake.org/freetown-lakevilleregionalscho/home?authuser=0

The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee voted the FY 19 school budget of $38,273,474, a 2.2% increase from the FY 18 budget. This was a number recommended by both towns at the Regional Finance Committee earlier this month. This number does not include any additional staff but does maintain level services and support for our current programming.  Highlights include increased revenue through school choice, athletic fees, and food service. There is also one separate article for a new maintenance vehicle. Please refer to our website for the updated budget hearing information.

I will continue to use the One-Call Communication System to provide families with the necessary school cancellation and delay information.  Please keep in mind that my decision will be based on multiple reliable sources, including multiple town contacts, and will focus on the safety for all children and adults. There are only 34 school days left and our last day is, Friday, June 22, 2018.

As the FY 19 budget season moves toward town meetings on June 4, 2018, we will look to your support as we provide appropriate resources to meet our growing educational needs. Our recent success will only continue if we meet our monetary commitment to “Raise the Bar” in both towns. The updated budget hearing presentation is now on the website. The next school committee meeting will be held, Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

I look forward to our continued drive toward excellence, as we raise the bar for all students.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call 508-923-2000 ext. 1703 or email me at rmedeiros@freelake.org.
