The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the 2019 MCAS accountability results last week. This is the second year of the new accountability system. We will be reviewing and analyzing the two year comparison as we continue to improve the school district. Individual Parent/Student Reports were mailed home today for your children. The FLRSD received a designation as “not requiring assistance or intervention” and making “substantial progress toward targets”. Individual school and district results will be reviewed in more detail at the November 6, 2019 school committee meeting.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District will continue to use the One-Call Communication System to provide families with necessary safety updates and school cancellation or delay information. We continue to strengthen our relationship with the senior citizens in both Freetown and Lakeville. The school district will host two senior breakfast events on October 16, 2019 at Freetown Elementary School and October 24, 2019 at Assawompset Elementary School. The last few years these events were a huge success and we look forward to our continued partnership with the Council on Aging in both communities.
Our next school committee meeting for the new academic year will be next Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in the ARHS Library at 6:30 p.m. Please be reminded that Friday, October 11, 2019 is an early release day for all schools and Monday, October 14, 2019 is a holiday.
