Raise the Bar

Welcome back to the start of another exciting school year! As you enjoy the last two weeks of summer, I thought you might appreciate an update from the school district.  I am busy preparing opening day remarks for all teaching staff that return prior to Labor Day on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 for professional development activities. Your children will arrive for their first day of school on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, grades 1-12. Our pre-school and kindergarten students arrive on Thursday, September 6, 2018.  Bus routes have been available on our “new look” website all summer, and elementary students have already received their placement letters. Our first school committee meeting for the 2018-19 school year will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the ARHS library.

I am excited to inform you that we have added two talented members at central office to our strong district leadership team. Please welcome, Ashley Lopes, Director of Finance, and Elizabeth Kurlan, Director of Student Services to our FLRSD family. In addition, we also welcome twenty new employees at all five schools.  We continue to prepare the buildings and grounds on the main campus and satellite schools for opening day.

I will continue to use the One-Call Communication System to provide families with necessary school updates and important district information for the start of school. We have already posted our 2018-19 school calendar on the website. Once again, thank you for your support at both town meetings, our recent success will only continue if we meet our monetary commitment to “Raise the Bar” in both towns.

I look forward to our continued drive toward excellence, as we raise the bar for all students. Please have a safe end of the summer and enjoy the remaining days with family and friends. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call  508-923-2000 ext. 1703 or email me at rmedeiros@freelake.org.
