The end of the school year is always an exciting time with so many opportunities to celebrate your children’s accomplishments. We are only seven days away from the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2019 from Apponequet Regional High School. Please be sure to check the individual school calendars for detailed lists of events at each school. The 2019-20 school calendar remains on our website for planning purposes. Only 12 school days are left in this academic year. Our last school day is Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District had the honor of hosting the Tyler John Trahan Medal of Liberty Memorial Event today at Freetown Elementary School. The Trahan family was present along with many town and state officials. The Massachusetts Medal of Liberty is awarded to Massachusetts service men and women who have been killed in action or who died as a result of wounds received in action. It is presented on behalf of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as Commander-in-Chief of the Commonwealth. Please remember to take some time to honor those local heroes that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country during this Memorial Day weekend. “Poor is the nation that has no heroes, but poorer still is the nation that having heroes, fails to remember and honor them” - unknown.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District participated in an exciting Special Olympic Event at Dartmouth High School today. Forty of our students and staff did an outstanding job of representing our school community. Congratulations to all those students that participated! Please see the list of our Olympic Athletes by clicking on the below "View More" Tab.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee voted to accept an adjusted budget of $40,038,585 which represents a 4.61% increase over the FY’19 Regional Budget. We need your support more than ever as we move toward town meetings on Monday, June 3, 2019. I will keep all stakeholders updated over the next few weeks with any upcoming meetings and events. A key message of support by the towns took place as the Regional Finance Committee voted to recommend and support the current request with both towns at their most recent meeting.
The Freetown-Lakeville School Community is celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Day and Week (May 6-10th). Please join us in thanking our outstanding educators for all they do for our children in both towns. Our teaching staff is truly the backbone of our success and continue to amaze me with their hard work and dedication. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 is National Teacher Day, please consider sharing your positive experiences and gratitude with our staff this week.
