The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Community would like to thank Carolyn R.Gomes for her hard work over the last 16 years for our children in Freetown and Lakeville. Carolyn will be stepping down as chair of the school committee to pursue a wonderful new career opportunity. We are so grateful to her for all of her hard work and efforts over this lengthy time to make our school district a better place for all children. Her leadership throughout the years has provided and led to so many successes for all of our schools. Her Lakeville school committee seat is vacant and must be filled my December 1, 2018. If you are interested please submit a letter of intent to the Superintendent’s Office by November 15th.
The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District had a great turnout at the Freetown Elementary School senior breakfast this week. The school district will host another senior breakfast event on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Assawompset Elementary School. We continue to strengthen our relationship with the senior citizens in both towns and look forward to our continued partnership with the Council on Aging.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the 2018 MCAS accountability results. Individual Parent/Student Reports were mailed out last week for your children. The FLRSD received a designation as “not requiring assistance or intervention” and partially meeting targets. The state designated 90% of districts in this category with 75% of Massachusetts school districts categorized as partially meeting targets. Individual school and district results will be reviewed in more detail at the November 7, 2018 school committee meeting.
