Hello! My name is Mrs. DeMatos. I have been a middle school English teacher since 2003 and I am excited to complete another fantastic year of teaching at Freetown Lakeville Middle School. I have a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Bridgewater State College and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I love to teach and keep learning fresh and exciting for my students.
In my spare time, I like to read mostly realistic fiction, historical fiction, and autobiographies. I also love to write creative stories, reflective pieces, poems, and songs! I am also an artist! I can draw people and paint nature landscapes with paints and pastels. (I have been sculpting and drawing in Boston art studios since I was nine years old!) I also love to dance (ballet,lyrical,jazz,tap), sing, play the piano, and the violin. I am a true artist and very eccentric to say the least!
When I was in middle school, academics came first! In fact, it was in the sixth grade that my English teacher told me I was a writer when he read one of my short pieces about a made up land with unicorns and fairies. (I think I still have it somewhere...)
Apparently I had been writing and journaling as a child, but I also loved to read! Books were my entertainment and I think that reading heightened my writing skills and creativity.
I am also a very active person! I love to work out, lift weights, train, and challenge myself physically. I train for the Falmouth Road Race that I try to run every year in August! I also enjoy volleyball, tennis, rollerblading, skiing, and (recently) a good
game of floor ball! My husband and I have two little boys, Sean and Logan, and I have enough energy to run after them and do the things I love............especially teaching!
