The following letter was received by Ms. Steele after donating pillowcase dresses and other items to the needy in Haiti. Ms. Reynolds was also appreciative of the generous donation made by "Friends of Rachel" with the money raised from "Hearts for Haiti":Dear Beth,

Please pass on my most sincere thanks to the kids at your school for giving so selflessly of themselves.  They have proven that if everyone works together, and each person does a small part, they can make a HUGE difference!  I hope they are all so proud of themselves.  I have heard that the people in Haiti are so gracious, and I can't wait to share so many gifts and urgently needed supplies with them. If you want to see a video put together by folks from the most recent team, go to

Again, thank you from the bottom of my hear

School Wide Topics:

Important Safety Message regarding dropping your children off in the morning: For the safety of our children, we ask if you drive your child to school in the morning, please be aware that you should be dropping your child off on the school side of our parking lot. We do not want our children walking through the parking lot due to icy conditions and visibility issues. Children may enter our building as early as 7:40 a.m.  At that time, they will wait in our main lobby area.  Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.

There are currently no fees for student participation in Middle School activities, clubs and sports. Participants must arrange a ride home as there are no late busses available.

GoodSearch: Please consider using GoodSearch.com as your primary search engine. If you designate our school as the recipient, we will receive funds every time you search! Please specify Freetown Lakeville Middle School where it asks "Who do you GoodSearch for?" and click "Verify". Thank you for your help.

Paper Recycling: Our school participates in a paper recycling program with Abitibi Paper Retriever whereby we receive funds for every pound of paper we collect. Everyone in our community is encouraged visit our school regularly to deposit household waste paper into the large green and yellow dumpster located in our parking lot! Accepted are newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, office & school paper, and mail. Cardboard is not accepted. Thank you for your participation.

Cell Phone & Ink/Toner Cartridge Recycling: FLMS collects old cell phones, empty inkjet cartridges, and empty laserjet toner cartridges for recycling. Our school receives funds for every box we send to Funding Factory. Please help us by taking these recyclables to our main office or by sending them to school with your child. In addition, we can enlist local businesses (small and large) to keep and fill boxes on our behalf. These businesses can send filled boxes directly using our prepaid shipping labels or we can arrange to collect boxes and send them from our school. Thank you for any help you may provide.

Family Vacations: We strongly discourage taking vacations while school is in session. Work will not be provided for students on vacations and will need to be made up after school or on the students' time when they return. Absences truly affect students' academic progress and create gaps in their learning.

The staff of FLMS wishes to express its sincere appreciation for all the support our PTO provides throughout the year.

Please download Technology Guidelines for Schoolwork Done at Home. These guidelines are designed to assist parents when students wish to take electronic (computer) files to school.

Please download Frequently Asked Questions for Parents and Students About Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

We continue to experience a shortage of qualified substitute nurses and are seeking RN's, with a current Massachusetts license, who have time during the school day for occasional coverage for grades K to 12. We will provide orientation. If you have a child in our school system, but not in the building you are asked to cover, you will be entitled to use the Fore and Aft Program with our compliments for that day. Please contact Ms. Linda Cass, RN at 508- 923-3506 (lcass@freelake.org) or Ms. Deb Levesque, RN at 508-923-3518 Ext. 2142 (dlevesque@freelake.org).
