History
The NHS ( National Honor Society) was founded in 1921 by the NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals.) The NJHS was established eight years later, in 1929, after the NASSP saw a need for an Honor Society for middle level students. Since then, both societies have grown, the NHS to 14,000 chapters and the NJHS to 5,000 chapters.
