Our PTO needs parent volunteers to help plan our 8th Grade Celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. The theme for this year is "A Night at the Grammys." For more information, please contact Justine Poillucci at 508-947-9053 or bp2jsb@comcast.net or Kathy McCarthy at 508-644-3148 or beachfun99@comcast.net.

Please download Technology Guidelines for Schoolwork Done at Home. These guidelines are designed to assist parents when students wish to take electronic (computer) files to school.

Our PTO is collecting Box Tops to generate money for our school. Each month Ms. Sullivan and Peer Leader volunteers will be sorting, counting, and organizing the Box Tops students bring in to their homeroom. Box Tops should be placed in a small plastic bag with the student’s name on it. We will all be able to monitor the collection progress on a chart in the cafeteria. There will be prizes for the top 20 Box Top collectors! Your family can make a difference for our school every time you shop for groceries! Just clip the Box Tops coupons from hundreds of your favorite products and send them to school with your child! Download a complete list of participating products. Parents should check the boxtops for educationwebsite daily/weekly.  There are coupons and contests to enter on a regular basis that will help to earn money for the middle school. For more information, please contact Linda Curtin at LCurtin@aol.com.

Please visit the Hannaford Helps Schools website for information about how you can help in raising funds for our school. Our school is registered for this program.

We are currently experiencing a shortage of qualified substitute nurses, and are seeking registered nurses, with a current Massachusetts license, who have time available during the school day for occasional coverage for grades K-12. We will gladly provide orientation in the different nurses' offices. If you have a child in our school system, but not in the building you are asked to cover, you will be entitled to use the Fore and Aft Program with our compliments for that day. Please contact Mrs. Linda Cass, RN at 508- 923-3506 (lcass@freelake.org) or Mrs. Deb Levesque, RN at 508-923-3518 Extension 2142 (dlevesque@freelake.org).

GoodSearch: Please consider using GoodSearch.com as your primary search engine. If you designate our school as the recipient, we will receive funds every time you search! Please specify Freetown Lakeville Middle School where it asks "Who do you GoodSearch for?"

Family Vacations: We strongly discourage you from taking vacations while school is in session. Work will not be provided for students on vacations and will need to be made up after school or on the students' time when they return. Absences truly affect students' academic progress and create gaps in their learning.

Student Schedule Changes: We no longer accept parental requests for student schedule changes. Changes made mid-term or mid-year often have an adverse affect on students academically and socially. We are promoting an attitude of resiliency and perseverance in our students, and are encouraging all of them to work hard and apply themselves to the best of their ability. We ask for your support in promoting these values.

Paper Recycling: Our school participates in a paper recycling program with Abitibi Paper Retriever whereby we receive funds for every pound of paper we collect. Everyone in our community is encouraged to visit our school regularly to deposit household waste paper into the large green and yellow dumpster located in our parking lot! Accepted are newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, office & school paper, and mail. Cardboard is not accepted. Thank you for your participation.

Cell Phone, Ink Cartridge & Used Book Recycling: FLMS collects old cell phones, empty inkjet cartridges, empty laser toner cartridges, and used books for recycling. Our school receives funds for every box we send to Funding Factory. Please help us by taking these recyclables to our main office or by sending them to school with your child. In addition, we can enlist local businesses (small and large) to keep and fill boxes on our behalf. These businesses can send filled boxes directly using our prepaid shipping labels or we can arrange to collect boxes and send them from our school. Used books must meet the following guidelines: published within the past 5 years, in good condition, and originally retailed for more than $12.00. These types of books are most wanted: Best Sellers, College Textbooks, Motivational, How To, Inspirational, Business, Specialty, Political, Instructional, Non-fiction, Training. Thank you for any help you may provide.
