Apponequet Regional High School

Mission Statement

 

Apponequet Regional High School provides diverse academic, creative, social, and athletic opportunities for learning. Working together, we maintain a safe environment in a supportive, healthful, and orderly setting. Members of our school community explore, learn, and achieve the necessary knowledge and skills to be responsible and productive citizens. We are committed to accommodating a wide variety of teaching/learning styles and maintaining high expectations for performance in an atmosphere of courtesy and mutual respect.

 

The Massachusetts Common Core of Learning establishes three broad goals that are critical to lifelong learning and that frame the learning, teaching, and assessment process:

  • Thinking and Communicating
  • Gaining and Applying Knowledge
  • Working and Contributing1

Expectations for Student Learning

Apponequet Regional High School students will:

  1. share in the responsibility for their own learning and achievement;
  2. behave appropriately in academic, athletic, social, and civic environments;
  3. read critically for a variety of purposes;
  4. write effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences;
  5. speak appropriately with courtesy and clarity;
  6. listen actively;
  7. employ appropriate problem solving strategies;
  8. utilize a variety of technologies effectively;
  9. participate in established community, business, and higher education partnerships;
  10. demonstrate the effective use of up-to-date career-related educational resources;
  11. exhibit a foundation of skills, habits, and personal qualities necessary for a solid job performance (SCANS Report, U.S. Department of Labor, 1991);
  12. understand the interrelationship of commitment, effort, and achievement.2
